for Students and Families
Learning matters more when it connects with young people—and connects them to the world. Linked Learning is a personalized approach to education that helps each student discover their passions. Young people gain the confidence and support they need to succeed in high school, and to graduate with the coursework and skills that prepare them for success in college, career, and life.
Bringing life to school

Every Linked Learning student engages in high-quality education that features college-preparation coursework plus real-world work experiences such as internships, apprenticeships, and special projects and simulations supervised by area businesses.
Through these experiences, students are introduced to career possibilities they could not imagine on their own. They engage with professionals in their field of study, and they begin building a network of people who can support their future career interests.
preparing for college and career
The Linked Learning difference:
- Learning takes place through pathways that are designed with local businesses based on the work their employees do
- Academic coursework ensures that students are qualified to go to community or state colleges
- School studies are connected to work-based learning that helps students prepare for employment in high-wage careers
- Students are qualified to go to state colleges and universities
Pathways across California are connected to the state’s primary industry sectors.

Student Spotlights

“I think that being able to look like the people you are serving and being able to relate can greatly benefit you. You have a huge impact on people’s lives when you’re serving a population that’s constantly swept under the rug.”

Lesly Guerra
“Though both my grandpa and my mom never fulfilled their own dreams to work in health care, every day they tell me how proud they are of me. I am going to make my dreams come true.”
